How to be a Healthy College student

By Carelyn Tiburcio on February 5, 2016

I’ve noticed that many college students don’t take care of themselves as much as they should. I am a victim of not taking care of myself properly. I started college during the summer and I was pretty careless, not going to lie. My parents weren’t there and I basically did whatever I wanted. The results weren’t pretty. But I learned from my mistakes and I’m here to prevent you from making those mistakes. Here are some suggestions to keep yourself in a healthy lifestyle!

Eat healthy foods

Please remember to watch what you eat. The fastest and cheapest meals aren’t the best things to eat. Also, don’t starve yourself. Eat properly. Make sure you have a meal plan or a method of getting food. If you’re trying to lose weight, starving yourself isn’t the way to do it. To be honest, that’s only going to make you want to eat more after a while.

Water is your best friend

Stay away from the sugary beverages. These drinks will only make you thirstier and make you want to drink more than you already took in. Just like food, its good to have them once in a while but not all the time. Bring a water bottle with you at all time. Water has numerous benefits and is always the best choice.

Exercise on a regular basis

Make the time to exercise. Believe me when I tell you that exercise helps. Exercise makes you feel better, physically and emotionally. Of course, you are a college student with limited time. Always make time for the gym. Make a schedule for the gym and make sure to stick with it!

Take vitamins

If you’re a college student, you probably aren’t getting the proper nutrients. Remember that you aren’t home and probably aren’t getting the proper nutrients. Take vitamins on a regular basis. Vitamins also play a vital role in preventing you from getting sick.

 Sleeping

Everyone needs sleep. Without sleep you won’t function probably. As a college student, you’re busy. You probably sleep late. Don’t sleep late on a day that you have class the next day. Remember that school comes first. Make sure you’re awake and alert for class. It’s understandable to sleep late because of classes, but it’s not okay to sleep late because of parties.

I hope you follow these tips! Remember to stay healthy!
